As the world waits for Kim Jong Un to blast another intercontinental ballistic missile to mark North Korea’s founding on Saturday, analysis of past provocations point to little correlation between key anniversaries in the country and its testing cycle.
NK Pro, a U.
subscription-based website that provides analysis on North Korea, published a report on Thursday analyzing 75 rounds of missile launches since 1990.
It found no link between key dates and rocket tests.
Instead it showed a higher correlation with overseas events such as elections, visits by Chinese delegations and U.
-South Korea military exercises.
North Korea launched its its first successful ICBM on July 4 -- U.
Last year, North Korea detonated a nuclear device on Sept.
9 to mark the occasion.
The probability of a test occurring on or next to a key date is 10.
7 percent, NK Pro said.
