Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has instructed officials to halt all contacts with the U. over the Trump administration’s threat to close its main office in Washington, a senior official said.
Abbas’ office sent a note to all government departments stating that “any meeting with an American official is banned regardless of the reason until they back down and treat us fairly,” Azzam Al-Ahmad, a member of Abbas’s government, said in Cairo late on Monday.
He told reporters that the decision, however, does not amount to severing diplomatic ties. has threatened to close the Palestine Liberation Organization’s office over Abbas’ attempts to have the International Criminal Court prosecute Israelis for crimes committed against Palestinians.
