Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday North Korea must stop nuclear and missile tests and that the United States and South Korea must also stop joint military drills.
After North Korea fired multiple ballistic missiles into the sea off Japan`s northwest coast on Monday morning, the U.S. started the deployment process of its advanced anti-missile defense system in South Korea on Tuesday.
Statement Department has responded to China`s rebukes, and said that the anti-missile system is not a threat to China, but a response to North Korea`s recent provocations.
Wang made the comments at his annual news conference on the sidelines of the annual meeting of China`s parliament in Beijing.
Beijing has voiced its opposition to the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system, and has said it destroys the regional security balance.
