May says ?now is not the time? for new vote before BrexitU.

Prime Minister Theresa May rejected calls for Scotland to hold a new referendum on independence before Brexit, putting her on a collision course with the Scottish National Party-led government in Edinburgh.
For May, a referendum would mean fighting to keep Scotland in the union while trying to hash out a divorce from the European Union that won?t cripple trade.
The premier said her focus should be on preparing for Brexit negotiations to get the best deal for the whole of the U.

?It would be unfair to the people of Scotland? to ask them to vote on independence before Brexit is settled, May said.
?My message is very clear: now is not the time,? May said in an interview with ITV News in London on Thursday when asked repeatedly if she?d support a new vote and if she would consider it down the line.
?They would be being asked to make a crucial decision without the information they need to make that decision.
?Scotland?s first minister Nicola Sturgeon announced this week she planned to request the power to call a new referendum on whether Scotland should split from the rest of the U.

Brexit and May?s commitment to pull Britain out of the EU single market were the reasons Sturgeon gave to justify seeking a new vote so soon after the last one in 2014.
